Dorthy Dandridge
Many people idolize Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn but not many people know about the lovely Dorthy Dandridge. Dorthy Dandridge was the first African American actress to win an academy award. Her most famous movies she has starred in is Carmen Jones with Harry Belafonte. When I found out that Netflix had Carmen Jones, I could not resist myself. She's sexy, charming, beautiful, and witty. I admire Dorthy and her work and if I could meet anyone dead or alive she would definitely be one the people I would meet. So who do you admire?

Senegalese Twists
So I got my braided the other day because I'm tired of doing my own hair! This transitioning to natural process is long but will be well worth it at the end! I kind of regret getting braids because they took everything and my grocery to pay for and I wished the stylist used black coslored weave instead of this dark brown color that makes my skin look glory. This half up half down look has been my go to style because it's the easiest and cute but Thank God for YouTube and the other braided sistas like me making tutorials on how to style braids and twists. My friends back on campus are going to go cray when they see my hair! What inspired me to get these twists was Pinterest (best app everrrr) because I liked how they looked and wanted to try something new. I'm definetly getting a sew in after I take these braids out so I can stretch my new growth and stay away from unnecessary heat that will damage my hair. Just another day of learning and loving the person that I am becoming!

It's a New Day, It's a New Day,band it's a New Blog!😄
It has been a full year since I abandoned my little blog and so much stuff has changed since then. Today is my last day at home for Christmas break and I can't believe that half of my freshman year is over! I came, I saw, and I conquered! My first semester was great academically and spiritually! I met new friends from all areas across the state. I loved and I lost. My heart was broken but it didn't take long for me to repair it! I found that I am content with my status because love will always be around and all that matters now is completing my educational journey. I strengthened my relationship with God and that's the best relationship I could ever have! I'm excited about the future and the many people that I will meet! When I look at the number 2014, I see the 14 (lucky number). The number fourteen is special or whatever to some people. But to me it means growth, clean, blessed, and new opportunities. I left some people in 2013, and I hope it stays that way. If something doesn't challenge me, help me, or make me into a better person then I don't want it! I'm loving life and the woman that I am becoming this year! Just some words of wisdom I found off Pinterest (my fav app lol.) "Forget the past but never forget what the past taught you!"

Hello DECEMBER!
It is so hard to believe that the holidays are near and half of my senior year is already gone! The Christmas lights are up and my greedy little brother has written up two more wish lists to our mom. And Friday night I got to ride on my first float in the Rock Hill Christmas Parade for the Miss Blue Revue program. It was nerve wracking at first, standing on a float with and waving and smiling at tons if people, but overtime I got over my nerves and was feeling like a celebrity, lol! And Saturday I had to take the fearful SAT. At first I was a little worried since this was my third time taking it and standardized tests are not usually in my favor. But I know that prepared myself more than over for the test and I believe that most of my hardworking will pay off on my scores. Not I have to wait 18 mind boggling days to receive them. This upcoming Saturday I have to take the ACT, so hopefully both of my scores will show some improvement and maybe even an acceptance letter. Oh yeah, and I applied to all of my colleges that I am looking at so hopefully I will have even more good news for you all. Senior year has already been so stressful, yet it has been fulfilling to me in taking the next steps toward my future. I believe that God has a huge blessing waiting for me and it will be bigger than anything I have ever imagined. Well I gotta go and study for this AP Bio test I have Tuesday, so wish me the best of luck with all of these tests! Oh and let me leave you with this quote that I found:
"All hard work brings profit" - Proverbs 16:3

Happy November Everyone!
Sorry for the long wait everyone, I have been really busy this past month, applying for sccholarships, studying and preparing my college applications. The feeling is overwhelming, but I know that at the end of my senior year, all of my hard work will pay off. So I finally got to check off get a leadership position off of my senior year checklist. And not only one position, but two leadership positions:Future Business Leaders of America (Vice-President), and Junior Civitans ( Treasurer)! I feel so blessed and very honored that my peers and school club advisors have noticed my commitment and teamwork to hold these titles. And at the Junior Civitan induction ceremony, I got to sit on the stage and say the pledge of aliegance and acknowledgements. This is such a big accomplishment for me, being that I used to be a very shy and quiet girl, who never really thought of herself as a leader. Now I feel as if I am a turtle, coming out of my little shell, and finally realizing the person that I have always had in me. I know that I can achieve anything, if I continue to believe in myself and stay focused. I already have a lot of great ideas to share with the other officials, so that our members can all do their duty. Second, I was invited to be contestant in the 2012-2013 Miss Blue Revue Pageant (YAY!!) In this pageant, the local Zeta Phi Beta holds an annual pageant to showcase local teen girls. Months leading up to the May pageant, we will be doing bonding projects, workshops, and acts of community service throught our town of Rock Hill. And also I get to sit on a float in the Rock Hill Christmas Parade this year, so I am very excited about that event. I have already started collecting monies, through calander announcements and advertisements. I admit, at first I did not believe that I could have a chance to be in this group of young talented women. But now I see that I was chosen to be in this pageant, but I know that I have the drive and support of my family members to win. And last but not least, I got my report card the other day and my grades getting better! I have an 80 right now in AP Biology, which I did not think that someone like me who has had college prep classes all three years of high school, could exceed as well as I am! I pray everynight that God will continue to give the strength and wisdom I need to make the right decisions, and continue to my absolute best in school. It's now or never, and I refuse to give up on my dreams and goals!!
Until my next entry, I hope that everyone has a blessed November and Thanksgiving!
